Bio
Mr. Smith is a senior advisor to ACP where he supports origination and transaction management on a global basis across sectors including real estate and specialty finance companies, infrastructure and maritime, consumer businesses, and general industrial.
He has over 40 years of experience in investment and corporate banking with leadership roles in more than 75 merger & acquisition transactions, capital markets transactions including several of the largest ever global IPO’s and corporate debt financings, as well as structured and asset-backed transactions across most financeable asset classes. Mr. Smith has led many emerging market cross-border transactions and has also been the lead advisor to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the Resolution Trust Corporation with respect to the privatization of government assisted depository institutions.
Prior to joining ACP, Mr. Smith was Global Sector Head at HSBC PLC for corporate and investment banking services to non-bank financial institutions, head of the Bank Group in the US, and Special Assistant to the CEO of HSBC Bank USA. Prior to that he was the Global Head of Specialty Finance Investment Banking at Morgan Stanley and Manager of the Financial Institutions M&A practice at Smith Barney and Lehman Brothers. In addition to his role with ACP, Mr. Smith also currently serves as Vice Chairman of Pacific General Holdings, a Korean/US/Saudi focused merchant bank and Senior Advisor to Srinidhi Investment Group, a Chenia, India structured equity fund focused on control investments in SME businesses in south India.
Mr. Smith holds an MBA from Columbia University Graduate School of Business and a BA from St. Lawrence University. He holds Series 7, 63, and 24 licenses and is an Associated Person at Pacific General Capital Management, an SEC Registered Investment Advisor.
